Athens is a perfect fit for Pugh
Last Friday around 4:20pm EST Makiri Pugh declared his verbal commitment for the University of Georgia. Less than 24 hours later he and his family were in Athens getting a better feel for his future home. Home is exactly what it felt like Saturday when Pugh was with some of his future teammates on the Georgia campus.
"The visit went real like I knew it would and I am just happy to be a Georgia Bulldog," said Pugh. "I met two other Georgia commitments in Christian Robinson and Brandon Boykin and they were great. It was a great visit and everything went very well."
Boykin and Pugh will be suiting up in red and black and taking care of opposing wide receivers. Pugh said the two future defensive backs hit it off very well from the minute hit walked in.
"I had met Brandon earlier in the process when we were both visiting Duke, so I knew who he was. I also had watched his film and was impressed with his speed too, so I was looking forward to talking with him on Saturday."
"As soon as I got there I saw Brandon at the table talking with Coach Willie Martinez, so I went over and sat with them. We knew we were now teammates and we had a lot of fun. I enjoyed getting a chance to hang out with him and just get to know him better."
It seems like Coach Martinez liked having them on campus together as well.
"He really told us that he was excited about having us to coach and that he had his boundary and field corners of the future. Me and Coach Martinez have a great relationship and we spent some time together on Saturday. He is the guy I talked with the most when I visited Athens last month and it has been great since then."
