Humble Witherspoon a great catch

Following his commitment to Michigan, Absecon (N.J.) Holy Cross linebacker Marcus Witherspoon - the most highly recruited player in the history of program, according to head coach Bill Walsh - cited the people at U-M as the primary reason for his commitment. After what Walsh witnessed throughout the process, he was quick to agree, noting Witherspoon and U-M were a great match …

Walsh has had other highly recruited players go through the process - most recently two years ago - but not to this extent. While some of them enjoyed every minute, he noted Witherspoon was almost embarrassed by the attention he received. With programs like Florida, Pitt, Clemson and other chasing him, he remained level headed in reaching his decision.
