Time to shine, Part I

For six members of head coach Steve Spurrier's first recruiting class, the 2007 season is their time to shine. While each of these five has made positive contributions as a Gamecock, now, in their third year in the program, it is their turn to step into the spotlight and help take the Carolina program to a higher level in the Southeastern Conference. In my next three columns, I will be spotlighting two of those players that will be key to the Gamecocks success in 2007.
When Gerrod Sinclair arrived in Columbia three years ago, he was one of the most decorated prep players from the sunshine state and had an impressive offer sheet to match. The 6-foot, 233-pound linebacker spurned offers from the likes of LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida, and N.C. State, among others to join the head ball coach at South Carolina. Sinclair was a super prep All-American, a member of the Jacksonville Times-Union Super 11, and a 6A all-state selection following a senior campaign that saw the three-star prospect record 107 tackles, eight sacks and seven interceptions.
