More on Rios

Thanks to the desire to work at something very few prospects do, Phoenix (Ariz.) North Canyon high school long-snapper Matt Rios will become a big component in the future of the University of California football program. BearTerritory has the latest on the hard-working Grand Canyon state Special Teams standout.

There are a lot of connections with Rios and the Golden Bear program, and they start with former North Canyon long-snapper and current Cal standout Nick Sundberg. One of the Top 10 long-snapping prospects in the country during his senior year, Sundberg started out just like Rios did - playing on solid North Canyon teams. However, before the start of his junior season, everything changed for Sundberg. That's when North Canyon high school hired head coach Brian Cole, as well as his long-time offensive line coach and Arizona prep long-snapping guru Ben Bernard.
