Quick has huge upside
By the time National Signing Day was complete on February 7, the Appalachian State coaching staff knew they had landed one of their top classes in recent memory. What they were also aware of was they might have gotten the biggest steal in all of FCS football when Ridgeview High (Columbia, S.C.) wide receiver Brian Quick signed his name to the dotted line.
Quick, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound freak of a wide receiver, only had one year of organized football under his belt when the Mountaineers signed him. However, that one-year was enough to let the coaches know that this kid was for real. In his lone season as a football player, Quick made a huge impression with high school coaches and media as he was selected to the North Carolina � South Carolina Shrine Bowl.
So, how does a player of this caliber not find the football field until his senior year? For Quick, the answer is simple.
