2009 forward Spurlock a priority for the Cavaliers

While the Virginia basketball program is still waiting for its first commitment in the class of 2008, it has continued to actively pursue its recruiting efforts with the class of 2009. One player who is among the top targets for the Cavaliers when it comes to rising juniors is Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian standout Tristan Spurlock. CavsCorner caught up with the 6-foot-7, 215-pound small forward for an update on his recruitment.

And it has been quite a summer for Spurlock, who has exploded onto the national scene, despite not participating on the AAU circuit.

But the Woodbridge, Va., native was impressive enough in his camp outings to have jumped to No. 27 on's list of the top players in the class of 2009.

"My summer has been great. I played well at the (NIKE) Hoop Jamboree and then at the Vince Carter camp," Spurlock said. "Things have really sky-rocketed since then."
