Troupe catching on
For a while Georgia coaches and fans alike were holding their collective breaths waiting to see if Tift County wide receiver Israel Troupe would arrive in Athens to play football this fall or opt for a Major League Baseball career. At the beginning of June, Troupe arrived in Athens despite being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 31st round of the amateur baseball draft in June, he showed up ready to play football.
When Troupe made the decision to come to Athens, he made it a point to get here early so he would have a chance to work with the veteran receivers over the summer and prepare for the upcoming season.
"I reported here on June 2 and it was really important because I got to work with all the receivers. I got a chance to get some of the routes down and get conditioned for the football season. We did a lot of stuff in the weight room and everything," said Troupe.
