What the Irish really wanted this week was an opponent.


What they got was a change of pace, enough of one to breath life into the training camp grind that can wear thin on even the most patient player. With Notre Dame now in full-time preparation for Georgia Tech and the monotony of two-a-days fading from view, there's a spring in the fall steps about practice.


"You start getting that game feel instead of just banging on each other," said Maurice Crum. "You get a little more juice in the tank or a little more gas in the tank because you're starting to switch gears."
