Nagel getting ready

It's an exciting time for Lemont (Ill.) outside linebacker Brett Nagel. His senior season starts Friday night against Chicago Hope, his recruitment is going well and everything is looking up heading into his final campaign.

"During the summer they remodeled our field and put in field turf and brand new stands," Nagel said. "We're looking pretty decent right now. Everybody is looking forward to (Friday) night. The field is awesome. It seems like you're moving a lot faster and it's easier to cut. It gets everyone real motivated."

It was a busy summer for Nagel, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect who finished with 13 rushing touchdowns, nine passing touchdowns and four interceptions last season. He took unofficial visits to Boston College, Stanford, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan State and Iowa. Rivals.com rates him as the 30th best player at his position nationally and the No. 9 recruit in the Illinois top 30.
