Battle to set ASU visit

Desert Vista perhaps has as many Division I football prospects as any school in Arizona, but the team still struggled in its season opener last Friday, losing 18-10 to Gilbert. caught up with Desert Vista standout Allante Battle for his thoughts on the game and what's going on in his recruitment.

"Our coaches just said that we weren't mentally there," Battle said. "That we kind of looked past them. That's what I think too. You just want to forget it and move on. I think we're a lot better than what we showed in that game.

"We just need to work through the whole play. It was the small things that killed us."

The 5-foot-9, 170 pound multi-sport star is perhaps best known as the state's fastest prep athlete after sweeping the 100, 200 and 400 meters at the state track and field championships as a junior.
