After opening its season with two dominating performances against San Jose State and Colorado, Arizona State has the top-ranked defense in the Pac-10 Conference.

The Sun Devils lead the Pac-10 in: scoring defense, (allowing a stingy 8.5 points per game), passing defense (123.5 yards per game), and most importantly total defense (159.5 yards per game). They also rank second in run defense, allowing just 36.0 yards per game.
