Thomas off to hot start

Mobile (Ala.) Murphy three-star linebacker Jacoby Thomas is off to a fast start to his senior season.

"I've been doing pretty good," the 6-foot, 212-pound Thomas said. "Last game I had like 17 tackles. I have like 40 tackles (on the season). I think I could be playing better. I'm getting keyed on a lot so that makes it a little harder."

Although projected to play outside at the next level, Thomas has been protecting the middle in his team's 3-3-5 defense.

"We run the 3-5," he said. "It's kind of like West Virginia's defense. I play inside. I'd rather be in the middle."

Three teams currently stand out the most to Thomas

"Alabama, South Carolina, and Purdue," he said.
