True, the first time each season that you run out of the tunnel into a sea of Burnt Orange is special, but conference is extra special. With the exception of an Ohio State series, and a pair of romps with Coach Brown's old school, non-conference games don't really pack the punch of excitement that the ever meaningful conference games offer.

However, it's entirely possible to lose every single non-conference game, then run the table in the Big XII and still be in the big bucks of the BCS. Not that anyone in any way would want that, but I'm just pointing out the importance of conference play.
