Practice NB: Injury Updates
Marcus Washington's timing couldn't have been worse.
Just two weeks removed from taking over the starting "Mike" linebacker position with Georgia, Washington learned Monday that he'll likely be out for at least the next two games while he recovers from a separated left shoulder suffered Saturday against Ole Miss.
Surgery will not be required.
"The plan now is to try and get my strength back up and see if I can get back, possibly for the Florida game," Washington said. "That's where I'm at right now."
Washington said that Dannell Ellerbe will slide back over to the "Mike" position. Ellerbe started at "Mike" linebacker in Georgia's first three games.
Washington said he suffered the injury on the goal-line when he caught underneath a pile trying to tackle Ole Miss running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis.
"I dove in the pile and he (Green-Ellis) came down on me and I got my shoulder in there," said Washington.
"It's just another hurdle in the road," Washington said. "But I'll keep my head up and keep fighting."
