Junior RB starting to make waves

Junior tailback Jurell Thompson of Wichita Falls Rider has gotten lost in the shuffle early in the 2007. Rider is throwing the ball much more this year with quarterback Shevodrick Beaver and receivers such as Texas A&M commit Markelle Martin. In addition, Thompson splits time at the position with senior Damien Washington, which has also limited his touches this season.

However, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Thompson (who has run a 4.42-second 40-yard dash) has been given more opportunities in his last two games, and the extra work has paid off. He rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns and had an 80-yard punt return in a win over Sherman two weeks ago. Last weekend in a 48-10 victory over Denton Guyer, Thompson rushed nine times for 127 yards and three touchdowns.
