Four-star prep DT determined

New Berlin (NY) Milford Academy four-star DT Charles Deas looked in the mirror last spring and didn't like what he saw.

He was up to 368 pounds on his 6-foot-4-frame, the most he'd ever weighed. He was slow, by Deas' standards at least, and wasn't making the plays he once did as a standout at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

So he decided to do something about it.

"I just ran every day and worked out," he said. "Started eating better. I was determined."

After months of a rigorous workout regime and steady diet, Deas, the former LSU signee, started seeing results. Dramatic results. By the time the season started, he'd dropped 40 pounds. Entering this week, he was down to 314.

"It's going so great," he said.
