Mangum focused on Huskies

Kurt Mangum's time is coming. The standout linebacker from Chandler High School (Chandler, AZ) is still without offers, but he certainly is not without interest. Having just sent his game films out to numerous schools, Mangum figures to be netting his share of offers in the very near future.

The 6-foot-1/2, 225-pounder has been a force on defense this season for his 5-1 Chandler team. In six games, he has already recorded 80 tackles, four sacks, and three forced fumbles. He leads the Fiesta Region, Arizona's top 5A division, by 20 tackles.

"Things are going real good. I'm trying to do some big things this season," said Mangum, who also plays h-back on offense.

"And the team is doing really well. We're 5-1 and we're ranked in the top 10 in 5A."

He may not have any official offers, but once college coaches evaluate his game tapes from this season's early action, that fact figures to change in a hurry. Mangum, who is originally from Detroit, Mich., has sent his tapes out to schools all over the nation.
