Video: Avery talks his Georgia commitment

Commitment number 21 for Georgia was Peach State athlete Xavier Avery. Avery chose UGA over a number of other schools across the country and he sat down to talk about his commitment with Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons recently.

Avery made somewhat of a surprising commitment to Georgia a couple of weeks ago after the Dawgs beat Ole Miss.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete was on campus that day to check out the environment in Athens and meet with the Georgia coaches. He met with Coach Richt before the game, he and his family watched Georgia defeat the Rebels and then he committed to Coach Garner.

Shortly after that, he went over to meet with his recruiting coach in another sport. Avery committed to Georgia in football, but he will also play baseball there as well. Coach Eller met with Avery in between meetings with other UGA baseball recruits that were visiting and things went well.

Avery sat down with me recently for this exclusive one on one interview. He talks about his decision, why he chose UGA, how solid he is, how important baseball is to him, what it would take for him to skip college and more.
