Last Friday, The Wolfpacker went a little over three hours to the west to watch linebacker commit Dwayne Maddox and Crest High in Shelby, N.C., face a stiff test in undefeated North Gaston High from nearby Dallas. The Wildcats feature athletic quarterback A.J. Blue, who has received some recruiting interest from the Pack among other schools.

Crest was the preseason favorite in the Big South Conference, but North Gaston proved Friday night they could in fact be the team to beat. The Wildcats improved to 7-1 on the year and 4-0 in the league with an emphatic 30-10 win over the Chargers. North Gaston rolled up 396 yards of total offense and forced five Crest turnovers.

Crest scored first on a field goal, but it was all North Gaston after that point as they went into the locker room up 24-3 at halftime. A 50-yard touchdown run from Princeton Brooks early in the third quarter made it 30-3.
