Desert DE has offers and favorites
The rise from the dead has been meteoric for Palm Desert (Calif.) College of the Desert in 2007 as the Roadrunners are 6-0 out of the gate and ranked No. 27 in the latest JCGridiron Dirty 30 rankings. One reason has been a stellar defense led by a defensive end with six offers on the table.
College of the Desert defensive end Lonnell Rice has been brutal on opponents so far in 2007 and a large part of the reason the Roadrunners are now the favorites to capture the Foothill Conference crown. Rice has been reeling in offers since the summer and gave us his thoughts.

Rice is 6-foot-6, 275 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash around 4.85 seconds. He graduated from Vista Del Lago High School (Calif.) in 2006 and was being recruited by USC and Arizona State before failing to qualify academically.
