Barber makes a decision

Three-star wide receiver Ben Barber out of Alexandria (Va.) Thomas Edison made a decision on Tuesday. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder has decided to head to the ACC.

Barber committed to Virginia Tech over offers from Virginia and Maryland as well as interest from Penn State, Connecticut, North Carolina and others.

He is rated the No. 94 wide receiver in the country and No. 30 prospect in the state of Virginia. Barber is the half brother of former Tech defensive back Willie Pile.

He earned all-district, metro, region and state honors as a junior. He appears to be a wide receiver or defensive back when he arrives in Blacksburg.

Barber's coach, Vaughn Lewis said this earlier about his star prospect.

"Ben's got fantastic soft hands and terrific concentration," he said. "He also has great leaping ability and runs very good patterns. Ben averaged almost 20-yards per reception and knows how to get open and get yards after the catch. Honestly, he's the best wide receiver I've ever coached and that's been a long time."
