Cyclones receive a hump day commitment

Iowa State stayed on its recruiting hot streak of late on Wednesday, picking up a commitment from a offensive lineman prospect who already has an older brother playing in the Big 12. With good bloodlines and athleticism and a big upside once he grows to major college football size, Mansfield (Tex.) Timberview tackle Jared Edwards fits the prototype for a new kind of incoming freshman lineman.

Edwards is 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds and will have to add 40 to 50 pounds to play tackle in the Big 12. That is quite all right by Iowa State, which saw plenty to like in his athletic ability and frame. Edwards made the decision to commit to the Cyclones on Wednesday and made the call from his high school.
