Stanford had one step forward against Arizona and unfortunately, took one step back on Saturday with a loss to an underrated Oregon State squad.
Stanford's biggest problems came with going up against one of the better defenses in the conference. Jim Harbaugh says that the Beavers' defense is so strong because of the pressure it puts on the opposition.
"Well they're good in the box," he said. "And their corners do a nice job. They get away with a lot of holding out there, but they do a nice job. And I'm sure that is how they are taught and they do a good job of playing man to man on the outside and getting their safeties involved in the running game.
"They get a lot of people to stop the run. It's basically what we're trying to do on our defense. Stop the run and create turnovers and sacks."
Linebacker Clinton Snyder says that the Cardinal gave up too much early and mistakes were the reason why Stanford was not able to come out with the win.
"We gave them a lot early in the game," Snyder said.
