Tide still after Mobile defender
Several months ago, the University of Alabama coaching staff extended a verbal offer to one of the most productive defenders in the Mobile area over the last several years, Blount's Willie Bohannon. Where does this 6-foot-2, 220-pound pass-rush specialist stand with the Tide now that UA has several front-seven commitments already in the bag for 2008?
"Coach (Ron) Middleton was here at practice last week," said long-time Blount coach Ben Harris, who may be in his final year at the school. "Coach Middleton expressed to us that Willie needs to be patient, that they may very well take Willie very soon.
"Whoever gets Willie is getting a good one. He isn't a combine guy. He is a football player. He just makes plays. He reminds me of Demarco McNeil who was another guy who didn't look great at the camps but was nothing but productive. I can promise you that whoever doesn't get Willie will regret playing against him."
Bohannon has enjoyed an incredible three-year run of productivity for Harris, picking up 70 tackles and 18 sacks as a sophomore with 57 tackles and 15 more sacks as a junior.
