Wildcats smiling heading into bye week
Everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong for Arizona this season. That is, up until five quarters ago.
Down 41-26 at Washington in the 4th quarter, the 2-6 Wildcats didn't appear to have much to play for. UW had momentum in the game, Arizona hadn't made a 4th quarter comeback since 1999 and there wasn't much to suggest it was about to happen.
However, when UA fans least expected it, Arizona made its comeback, scoring 22 points in the quarter and winning 48-41. The win gave the Wildcats a 3-6 record and although the team's bowl hopes were slim, they were still alive, as was UA head coach Mike Stoops' chances of saving the season, as well as perhaps his job.
Against UCLA, Arizona found itself in the opposite situation in the 4th quarter - trying to hang on to secure the victory. The UA led 34-17 heading into the fourth quarter but 10 straight points by the Bruins put the Wildcats' lead in jeopardy.
With 2:49 to go in the game, UCLA had the ball on Arizona's 17-yard line, leaving the game into the UA defense's hands, which was a pretty scary proposition considering how disappointing the unit had been up until Saturday.
