Recruiting spotlight: Quinten White
When some said a summer football camp at Temple couldn't be done, Owls head coach Al Golden, the ultimate optimist, thought otherwise.
With the camps, Temple's football program has established a much-needed local recruiting presence.
And now, after two summers and a few thousand kids, Golden and his staff are starting to reap the benefits of the camps. They helped reel in another Philadelphia product this week in Cardinal Dougherty linebacker Quinton White, who verbally accepted a scholarship offer to play football for the Owls in 2008. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder joins Archbishop Carroll linebacker Geoffrey Prather and Northeast Catholic defensive end Shahid Paulhill as area recruits to commit to the 2008 class.
White was at two of the camps this summer and came away impressed. From the 2008 class, it's been a mix of locals and out-of-towners that have attended the camps and subsequently committed to Temple. Nazareth High School's Kevin Kroboth and twin brothers Pat Boyle and Sean Boyle, who play on the offensive line at Baltimore's Calvert Hall High School, are products of this past summer's camps.
