Big news from Hall?
About a month ago, Beaumont (TX) Central ATH Derrick Hall decided that if the coaches at Texas A&M who recruited him weren't in college Station next year, he probably wouldn't be either. This past weekend, Dennis Franchione stepped down after defeating Texas for the second straight year. Hall said that the news was a little surprising but didn't come as a total shock.
Hall said that he wasn't sure exactly how it would all work out over the coming weeks, but he hoped that it means that things are probably more uncertain than they have been in months.
Other than Texas A&M, Hall said he had been talking only with LSU and Missouri. He said that he has enjoyed the conversation with the two schools, but over the past few weeks, he had seen his relationship grow significantly with Missouri defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
With his season over, Hall had ample time this past weekend to take in the Tigers game against Kansas. He said that the game went largely the way he expected it to, but when he talked to Missouri receiver Jeremy Maclin, the two talked about how the game could be a blowout in the future.
After watching Missouri on television this past weekend, Hall said it was exciting to know that the Tigers would be so close to him this weekend. He said that if he was able, he would be in the stands this weekend as the Tigers took on Oklahoma. He added that he thought that part of the reason would be to possibly deliver good news to the Tiger coaches.
Hall said that he knew that wherever he ended up, he would go to the best place for him. He said that he was going to try to come in and be as big of a help as he could to the program.
