UA visits McClain

With three elite offensive line prospects already committed to Alabama for the 2008 class, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are looking for one more top-notch lineman to help solidify one of the top offensive line classes in the nation. Rivals250 tackle Antoine McClain has shown heavy interest in the Tide throughout the recruiting process and received a visit from Alabama assistant Major Applewhite on Tuesday.

"Coach Applewhite came by the school today and the visit went well. He's doing what all schools do trying to sell their program but I've always liked Alabama," McClain said. "He told me that with the current offensive linemen they have committed and me it would be the best class in the SEC and one of the best in the nation. That was an extra point for me. I liked that because I talk to Tyler Love a lot. We are good friends and I talk to John Michael (Boswell) every now and then.

"Other than that he was just telling me to stay on my grades and that kind of stuff. I told him I was still giving Alabama a hard look. I'm trying to set up a visit with them for two weekends from now."

Before he visits Tuscaloosa, McClain will take a trip to Tallahassee to visit Florida State, another program that has been heavily involved in McClain's recruitment from early on.

"The plan is for me to go to FSU this weekend. I already had that one set up and I'm looking forward to seeing the campus and learning more about them. I don't really know that much now because I've never been there," McClain said. "I do know they have a good coaching staff and I like Coach Trickett and respect Bobby Bowden a lot. It should be a fun time for me. The FSU staff is coming to school tomorrow to see me and finalize everything."

With a few short months to go in the recruiting process, McClain has narrowed his choices down to five favorites.

"My top five schools are Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, FSU and LSU. I've been to all of them on unofficial visits but FSU, so I've got a pretty good feel for what all of them have to offer," McClain said. "I plan to take all five of my official visits before I decide. I don't have an overall favorite, I'm just going to see how everything goes on my visits and then goes from there."
