Savage amazed by Iron Bowl atmosphere
Huntsville (Ala.) J.O. Johnson defensive lineman Jomarcus Savage has seen a lot of college games in-person and on T.V. but what nothing compares to what he saw Saturday night in Auburn.
"It was amazing, a great game to go to," said Savage. "It was like no other I've seen all year. It was a great trip overall."
The 6-foot-2, 260-pound Savage was in the stands at Jordan-Hare Stadium for his first Iron Bowl as the Tigers cruised to a sixth-straight win over Alabama.
"The atmosphere was outrageous," said Savage. "You can tell Alabama is a football state. This is a very heated rivalry.
"I was watching the end of Tiger Walk right before they enter the locker room. That's very energizing before a game. I saw the eagle soar and everybody was into it. It was just crazy."
Savage spoke with a number of AU assistants before the game and also afterwards as he checked out the post-game celebration in Auburn's locker room.
He also hung out with several other top in-state recruits at the game including offensive lineman Antoine McClain, linebacker Jerrell Harris, defensive end Courtney Upshaw (Bama commit) and quarterback Barrett Trotter (Auburn commit).
