Surprise visitors see Louisville

Louisville is hosting a group of football official visitors this weekend, and gives you a first look at some of the prospects on campus. In addition to commitments Tino Sunseri and Byron Stingley[db], the Cards also hosted a trio of surprise junior college prospects, along with a big 2009 basketball prospect...

South Florida commitment [db]Kion Wilson, a 6-1, 225-pound linebacker from Pearl River C.C., was spotted visiting Louisville this weekend. The three-star prospect committed to the Bulls last month. He also has offers from Ole Miss and Miami-Fla.

Two of the biggest surprises joining Wilson from Mississippi this weekend were Jeremiah Price and Justin Matthews, both of Jones County C.C.

"Price is a Junior College All American," said Jones County head coach Eddie Pierce. "Justin is just a great ahthlete. They are both really good football players."

At 6-4, 245 pounds, Price is a defensive end. The 6-2, 200-pound Matthews played defensive back this season for Jones County.

"Louisville has been recruiting them since day one," Pierce said. "I think Coach Kragthorpe is a super, super guy. I think he's going to get that ship righted. Coach Mallory came through here in the spring, and that's basically when they went on Louisville's list."

Both players will be ready to graduate in December. "This is their first visit. I know Price is going to Oklahoma State and I think Kansas State," Pierce added. "Of course they have to make a quick decision, too. Justin, I'm not real sure about what his visits are right now."

2009 basketball prospect Rakeem Buckles was also in attendance. The three-star prospect is a 6-8 forward who has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, and Miami-Fla.
