Smith down to two?
Texas cornerback Devin Smith made his first official visit of the year this past weekend with a trip to the University of Iowa. Following the visit, the 5-foot-11, 179-pound Smith says his decision may come down to two schools.
Smith's host on the official visit to Iowa was cornerback Jordan Bernstine, who saw playing time this past year as a true freshman. With early playing time as one of his top factors, the Texas native took the opportunity to talk with the Iowa coaching staff about where they see him fitting in.
Along with Iowa, the other school at the top of Smith's list right now is Wisconsin. This week, the cornerback will receive an in-home visit from both the Hawkeyes and Badgers with Phil Parker from Iowa and Kerry Cooks from Wisconsin stopping by. He will then make an official visit to Madison this weekend and could decide shortly thereafter, although Oklahoma State is another school trying to stay in the mix.
As a senior, Smith had 40 tackles and five interceptions this year on defense to go along with 22 catches for 470 yards and five touchdowns playing wide receiver on offense. While academics are his top priority, the Texas native sees similar situations at both of his top schools, so early playing time has moved up near the top of his list.
