Gooden names a favorite
Pflugerville (TX) safety Zaviar Goodenwas already enjoying his senior season. With only a few weeks left, Gooden said that the season has meant more to people than he ever thought it could, but the extra support has actually lessened the pressure on he and his teammates.
Gooden said that things have been going just as well off the field in recruiting. When he hasn't been on the field, the 6-foot-2 Gooden has been talking with and welcoming coaches into his house.
Gooden enjoyed the visits from all the coaches, but said he especially liked having Missouri coach Brian Jones in his house. Gooden said it has been easy talking with the coach about a variety of things and last week's in home visit was a good chance for his parents to find the same comfort with Jones.
Gooden talked with coach Jones about the impressive season he saw from the Tigers. He added that part of the success of the team came from the continued improvement week after week out of the defense.
Gooden said he knows that right now, many of his counterparts in recruiting are on official visits and nearing a decision. However, Gooden joked that he'd much rather still be playing. Gooden added that he had a few visits set up, but still had yet to set up his most important visit.
Gooden said that getting the chance to still be playing for the Texas state title has been unbelievable. Despite not being able to take trips just yet, he did say that he has found a favorite in recruiting. How soon could that favorite become his commitment? Gooden wasn't sure, but he wanted to make sure he gave them a chance to welcome him to campus before making his final decision.
