Adkins in the mix for TCU?
Jenks(OK) has been known as a powerhouse in the state of Oklahoma and nationwide for quite some time. It is also well-known for the stomping grounds of some of the most prominent college coaches every year with the talent Jenks puts on the field.
One of the 2008 prospects garnering attention is running back Chris Adkins. The 5-foot-9, 190-pounder racked up over 1,800 yards on 7.8 yards per carry with 34 scores his senior year en route to All-State honors.
Three teams have offered the fast rising player including New Mexico, Air Force, and Tulsa while others are starting to show interest.
"Louisiana-Monroe, Rutgers, Texas Tech, and Rice are showing interest," he said. "Rice is starting to show a lot of interest lately."
Another school that showed Adkins interest early on is TCU. However, it appears the Frogs have backed down but Adkins says he would like to hear back from them.
"They kind of offered in the summer," he said. "Actually it was like a semi-offer, if it was one, it was a little bit shady. I haven't talked to them at all lately, but I'd definitely like to hear from them again. I like their offense and the atmosphere down there, and I just love the state of Texas. But I haven't been in touch with them lately."
Adkins says he's in no hurry to make a decision and would like to take his visits before anything final comes about.
"I'd like to take some visits and talk to my dad. I'd like to make a decision next month. I don't have anything set up with visits yet, I'm still working on getting those set up."
