Iowa State gets verbal from big OL
Iowa State filled a need in its offensive line recruiting Tuesday night, receiving a verbal commitment from massive tackle Adrin Haughton from Sanford (Fla.) Seminole. The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Haughton was a recent addition to ISU's recruiting board on the offensive line after the Cyclone staff saw senior game tape. His ascent from prospect to offer recipient to verbal commit was a rapid one.
Haughton said he committed to Iowa State sight unseen because of the coaching staff. "I did my research on the coaches and every school they have been at, they've built the team up," Haughton said. "They are going to do that at Iowa State, too."
Buffalo was the only other Division I-A school to offer Haughton and academics could be the reason for the tepid interest from major college programs. Earlier in the recruiting cycle, Haughton had a who's who of college programs interested in him, including Florida, Florida State, LSU and Michigan. But that interest waned. "I have some work to do, in the classroom," Haughton said when asked about his academic situation. "But I will get it done."
