Cooper narrowing it down

With two official visits already under his belt and up to three still left to take, Dallas Skyline safety Keanon Cooper is trying to narrow down his remaining choices. With Michigan, Miami, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, and Kansas all still viable options Cooper has an idea on where he'll take those visits and he's for sure about one of them.

"I have an official visit set with Michigan on January 11th thru 13th," said Cooper. "They have a lot of athletes on defense and I feel like I can go in and help those guys win a national championship."

The 6-foot-0, 195-pound standout previously visited Minnesota and Kansas State this fall, but wasn't in a hurry on making any decision and chose to take the process slowly.

"I wanted to wait and plan everything out. I don't want to make a premature decision. I'm a more cautious person and want to really make sure that the place I go is really the right place for me."

While Cooper has no problem with ending the recruiting process as soon as he finds the perfect fit, he would like to check out as many options as possible. Depending on his visit to Michigan it could mean that Cooper heads back out on a visit the following weekend.

"(Texas) Tech has said that January 18th is the day they want me to come up there. Actually, Wisconsin also wanted me to come out on the same day so whenever I arrange that then I'll have to figure it all out."

The Texas Tech coaching staff would like the three-star prospect to experience Lubbock for a second time after Cooper took a trip there last April.

"I liked what I saw at the spring game. They had a real great season this year. The defense really stepped it up towards the end of the season, so those are all pluses."

Before the recent dead period began Cooper was able to spend a great deal of time with the staff at Texas Tech.

"Actually, Coach (Seth) Littrell came by the school a couple of weeks in a row and gave me a few visits. Also, Coach (Brian) Mitchell came by the week before we got out for break. And I got a chance to visit with him a little bit. They've been coming by my school and talking to me sand showing their interest."

So how long will the decision process continue for Cooper?

"I actually don't have a time frame. If I go somewhere and feel like it's a right for me then I'll commit. But until then, I'll keep going on my visits."
