Allen talks UGA and Under Armor game
One of the eleven Georgia commitments that played in one of the All-American games last weekend was Fayetteville (N.C.) tight end Dwayne Allen. Allen was selected to play in the Under Armor game in Orlando (Fla.) and he performed well down there.
"I had a great time down there, everything was great and they did us right," said Allen about the Under Armor experience last week. "It was cool to hang out with some of the best players in the country, to see how I compared to other tight ends and just play in a game like that."
Before the game took place, Allen participated in the Best Hands competition and he was the winner.
"I take great pride in catching the ball, but I did not think I was going to win that. I did not even think I would get out of the preliminary round. Those balls were coming fast, but I made it out and I won."
"I really did not finish the way I wanted to because I dropped the last ball because I was thinking about it too much. I was going to catch it and go up and dunk it over to goal posts to show my ups, but that did not work out," said a laughing Allen.
The game came on Saturday afternoon and the 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end's day ended early after a remarkable grab over the middle.
"I kind of left my body out there to get hit when I made the catch and Will Hill (Florida commit) drilled me. It is just part of football, so it is not big deal, but my shoulder was hurting and it swelled up, so they held me out the rest of the way. I ended up with that one catch for 22 yards."
