Visit to UGA is not likely for Avery
Xavier Avery is not only regarded as a top football prospect across the South, but he is considered one of the premier baseball prospects in the country as well. Baseball is the key for him and his future at Georgia. The talented athlete had a visit set for Athens, but that may not happen now because of baseball. He hoped to talk to one of the UGA assistants about that Sunday, but he was not able to do so.
"I thought Coach [Rodney] Garner was coming by on Sunday night, but he did not make it," said Avery. "I am not sure if I got the dates mixed up or what, but I tried to call him and I could not get him. I hope to talk with him on Monday."
Avery planned to talk with Coach Garner about his official visit that was set for this upcoming weekend, but that will likely not happen now.
"I thought I was going then, but I don't think I can make it because of a baseball workout. I have to go the fourth annual Chipper Jones camp and workout for the Atlanta Braves this weekend. My visit will have to be chanced."
The visit date needs to be changed, but the 5-foot-11, 185-pound speedster out of Ellenwood (Ga.) said fitting in this late could be very difficult.
