Vines reschedules visit with SDSU

Randi Vines was originally scheduled to visit San Diego State this past weekend. But the 6-foot-4, 220-pound standout from Oxnard (Calif.) Santa Clara did not make the trip.

"I am going to San Diego State this coming weekend instead," he explained. "I am excited and ready for it. I think it will be a good experience.

"San Diego State said that coming in I would have an opportunity to make an impact at tight end. They utilize their tight end a lot."

Vines previously visited Fresno State, but the Bulldogs have not offered a scholarship.

"My trip to Fresno State went well, I liked it a lot," he said. "But Fresno State said they are still evaluating me.

"I switched positions this year to help my team. I played quarterback and it turned out well, we won CIF. But because I didn't play tight end, the position a lot of colleges are recruiting me for, I don't have the senior film they want."

Vines also played defensive end as a senior.

In addition to SDSU and Fresno State, Vines has drawn interest from Nevada-Reno and New Hampshire.

Vines is currently playing basketball for Santa Clara. The Saints are off to a 15-3 start.
