Mid-State DT Commits to Vols

The last couple of weekends of the recruiting season are typically where you will find a couple of surprises emerge. Defensive tackle Montori Hughes from Murfreesboro, was one of those surprises when Tennessee brought him to campus this weekend for an official visit, and today he became a surprise Tennessee commitment.

For Hughes, who was being recruited by a host of OVC schools, but no one at the SEC level, the decision was easy.

Hughes, who attends Siegel High School, was a well-kept secret in the mid-state area but he created some buzz when he participated in the Tennessee East-West All-Star game in December which was held in Greeneville.. It's there that Tennessee coaches started to get some feedback about him and began to look at him seriously as a prospect.

"I just liked everything about it. The whole thing was great, hanging out with the team, visiting with the coaches, I couldn't pick one thing that stood out," Hughes said. "They have a ton of academic services to help you out, I didn't really realize it would be like that, that was nice."
