SMU adds Lufkin lineman

SMU has secured the commitment of Lufkin offensive lineman Josh Emshoff.

Emshoff committed to the Mustangs this past Friday after taking an unofficial visit the previous weekend.

He had been lightly recruited by the previous coaching staff, but took a visit to SMU after taking to new line coach Dennis McKnight.

"I like Coach Jones and coach McKnight, the new line coach," Emshoff told MustangManiacs.com. "The program is on the way up and there's a lot of excitement around there. Everything there was first class."

Emshoff, who played guard at 6-4, 275 at Lufkin, was told by SMU coaches he could play any position on the offensive line, including center. He did say that he has never played the center position, though.

He did also take an official visit to Baylor, where he was told he could grayshirt. He is also being recruited by Rice.
