Relationships help Huskers in Texas

One would be hard pressed to find a Nebraska recruiting class that had the quantity of Texas players that the 2008 class unveiled on National Signing Day.

Nine players from the Lone Star State signed letters of intent to play football for the Huskers on Wednesday. The last two classes in the last quarter century that came close included the 2007 and 1989 class each included seven players who put pen to paper on Signing Day with Nebraska. Head coach Bo Pelini made it clear that first priority is to start in-state with recruiting efforts to begin with. However, as the staff recruited this year and will likely in the future, Texas certainly will be a familiar place they go searching for talent.

Pelini, along with assistant coaches Tim Beck, Ted Gilmore, and Shawn Watson who recruit the talent-rich state, seem to focus on the relationship aspect when talking about their success in the state.
