Catching Up With The Vols Top Target
Tennessee is in the process of putting together a basketball season of historic proportions for the program on the court. The Vols are also hoping that their ever-rising profile pays dividends on the recruiting front, and without question the main focus of those hopes is five-star shooting guard Scotty Hopson.
Hopson (6-foot-5, 185 pounds), from Hopkinsville, Ky. is one of the biggest names left on the board nationally among 2008 prospects. He's certainly the biggest left on the board for the Vols.
The immensely gifted two-guard would be a top-shelf priority in any event, but the backcourt needs facing the Vols' staff make his potential importance as a recruit hard to overstate.
As physically gifted as any perimeter player in this class, Hopson is a high priority for plenty of schools besides Tennessee, as evidenced by the steady stream of coaches who have shown up in the stands recently.
Rivals.com rates Hopson as a five-star prospect, the No. 2 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 9 overall player in the Class of 2008.
