Michigan courting top Mississippi safety

The only Michigan letterman to ever come out of the state of Mississippi was defensive back Jeremy LeSueur (1999-2003). With former Southern Miss coach Jay Hopson now on staff in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines should have more of a presence in the Magnolia state in the years to come. One they are targeting from the state in the class of 2009 is Batesville South Panola safety David Connor.

When it comes to high school football in the state of Mississippi, the conversation starts with South Panola who has dominated class 5A, the largest in the state, this decade. The Tigers again took home the state championship this past season with a 28-21 victory over George County and one of the top contributors and leaders for South Panola this past season was the 6-0, 200-pound Connor.
