An offer and three favorites for Florida WR
For a player that plays the game of football at a high speed, the pace of his recruiting is beginning to keep step. Tallahassee (Fla.) Leon's James Green has held an offer from UCF for weeks now but a recent offer and a possible third offer in the wings have begun to cast a new light on the cornerback's recruitment.
"South Carolina offered me Tuesday morning," Green said. "At first my uncle Lamont Green had talked to the recruiting coach in the area and he said that he liked what he saw and he offered me on the spot."
The offer was one that Green had been hoping for.
"At the beginning of the NCAA football season, I liked South Carolina a lot and everyone was saying 'what do you like about them' and I can just see myself playing for them in the future. I can't put my finger on it yet but I just really like them."
Green transferred to Leon High School just a few weeks ago and has been recruited by South Carolina's Robert Gillespie since his move from Miami's Dr. Krop High School. Other than the move to Northern Florida, Green has been putting up strong performances wherever he can.
"Two weekends ago, I went to the Sparq combine in Miami and got invited to the Nike Training Camp," he said. "I jumped 33.4 inches, I ran a 4.5 in the 40 and I got an 89 Sparq rating."
Despite the increased attention from colleges, Green hopes to continue to focus on what's important.
"Really when it all comes down to it, I'm just gonna focus on academics right now so if football doesn't work out for me, I can always have another job. So academics are very important to me."
Outside of the two early offers, Green has several other schools showing him interest. Georgia, Auburn, North Carolina and Rutgers have all been recruiting the big target. However, his next offer may come from Big Ten country.
"Ohio State, they said that they were gonna offer me," he said. "They already saw my highlights they just want to see my game tape to see if I take plays off."
Though Green does anticipate making a decision until the fall, he has three early favorites.
"My top three schools that I really like a lot are South Carolina, Ohio State and Georgia."
