Frogs add No.8!

Last year at this time the TCU Football team had but one commitment on board from quarterback Yogi Gallegos. However, this season coach Gary Patterson and staff took a different approach to recruiting going after big names early on and to date it has paid off with seven commitments thus far highlighted by Rivals.com 250 member and four-star quarterback Casey Pachall out of Brownwood.

The Frogs added another gem to their strong class Saturday afternoon when they received a commitment from Wichita Falls (TX) Rider athlete Jurell Thompson Saturday afternoon. The four-star athlete recently made his way onto the Rivals 250 list and chose the Frogs over offers from Georgia Tech, Tulsa, Arizona State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Utah, and SMU among others.

The 5-foot-11, 191-pounder made an unofficial visit to Ft. Worth Saturday and said a number of reasons lead him to a decision for the Frogs.

"They're a championship team," he said. "They're also close to home and they're real family oriented over there. Coach P is also a really cool dude."

One question left to ponder from Frog fans is which side of the ball Thompson will play. The Frogs have been in search of a big time runner which Thompson fits the profile, however some say he will likely play safety. Wherever he ends up Thompson says he'll do what it takes to help the team.

"They've told me running back or DB right now," Thompson said. "I'd rather play DB but I'll play wherever they need me to play."

Now with a decision under his belt, Thompson says it's unlikely he'll take any more visits.

"No, I don't think I'll take any more visits."
