Two Tigers drafted in second round
It wasn't as high as he'd hoped but Quentin Groves got the news he was waiting for Saturday evening when the Jacksonville Jaguars nabbed the former Auburn defensive end in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
"You kind of get frustrated with not getting picked when all these guys are going before you," said Groves. "When Jacksonville called me, they said, 'OK, Quentin, are you going to be able to participate in our mini-camp?' I said, 'In order to participate, I've got to be drafted first.' He said, 'Congratulations. You're a Jaguar.'
"I was overwhelmed. When they called my name, it was like a weight just got lifted."
Groves was with his family in Greenville, Miss., when he received the news.
"It was pandemonium," said Groves. "They're still yelling."
Groves, who was selected with the 21st pick of the second round (52nd overall), was one of two former AU players drafted Saturday. Cornerback Pat Lee was picked by the Green Bay Packers with the 29th pick of the second round (60th overall).
