Kemp has a legacy to uphold

The Class of 2009 promises to be one of the better years as far as basketball talent is concerned. And in the state of Georgia, there is an abundance of highly rated players available. One of the big men, Shawn Kemp, has been offered by UGA and a number of other SEC schools. He looks to build upon his successful junior year and develop into one of the premier post players in the country next year.

Although he may not have fully developed offensively, there may be a good reason for this. He has not been playing basketball for very long.

"I started playing basketball in eighth grade," said Kemp. "A lot of my friends kept asking me to get out there. I had never played before, but I was tall and I did like the game so I decided to give it a try."

Now entering his senior year at Cherokee High School, Kemp has begun to blossom into a better player who already has superior physical talent.

"I have changed a lot because now I am learning the game and am widening my skill set. My jump hook is my best shot and I am best at running up and down the court all game."

Improving he is, but he still has a ways to go to become the player everyone expects him to be.
