Former AU commit adjusting well in JUCO

Damion Allen didn't want to waste any time. Last fall at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla. when he knew that his chances of qualifying for a Division I school were small, he got a head start on junior college.

The decision to enroll early in junior college will hopefully pay off for Allen next December, the next chance he has to gain entry into Auburn.

Allen, one of the top receivers in the state last year, was one of the first commitments in Auburn's 2008 class. However, instead of signing with the Tigers in February and reporting to junior college in the summer or fall, Allen received his high school GED in December and enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss. in the spring.
