Maryland DB getting lots of attention
Story for Wednesday.
Courtney Bridget- Calvert Hall, Mary.
Some cornerback, some free safety.
"They are waiting on my SAT's to come back. When I went to that junior day, Coach Neal, basically said it was a slow process with them because
they only have one scholarship. I think it's three of us that he's boiled it down to. Who he plans on giving the scholarship too,
I don't know but there was only three DB's there at the junior day, and he said it was us three and to just be patient with
them and everything will work out for itself."
West Virginia visited this week...
"West Virginia came by, Temple came by that same day, they actually came together. Northwestern called me, seemed like they were interested.
They said they would know within the week on an offer or not, after their DB coach watches the film. Duke's, Coach Zac Roper came by. Coach Cosh from
Maryland came by. Oregon, was the first visit. They came by after that junior day, on the following Monday. Coach Trivers from Syracuse came to visit
as well as Coach Poindexter from Virginia. Still learning some more information from them."
"I've visited Duke, UConn and the University of Oregon. I have a visit this Saturday at Temple.
"Oregon, that place was unbelievable. The facilities, the coaches knew who I was. They were intrigued really by my height and my physical attributes.
I really liked Duke too. They haven't been really known in the past for football but their coach seems like they have everything under control and
that seemed like the most family oriented team that I've visited so far. I got to go there and check out a practice, they really stood out to me as well."
Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Florida.
Looking for from a school...
"Main thing would probably be academics. I need to go somewhere obviously where I feel I can get the best academic placement there. I ask all the coaches
if they offer business, that's the main thing I'm looking to major in so, the academics and early playing time are important. I like to look at how many
teams are leaving from that team. I feel as though I would like to get a chance to compete for a starting spot my freshman year. Just a chance, I'm not asking
them to be named the starter because I don't want to be given anything. I would just at least like the chance to compete and show my abilities.
"Of course, with location, I'd like for my family and friends to be able to see me, but that's not a real factor obviously since I've been out to Oregon, already.
I also want to bond with the coaches. Whatever coaches I feel go around, that's where I'm going to go at."
"I'm very tall and lean. I use my height to my advantage whether it be pressing, jump balls, getting my hand in the path of a pass that a 5-foot-10 defensive back
can't get to. I'm very physical and love to jam. I'm instictive and I read routes. The college coaches have said they liked my tackling ability."
"Things I need to work on is probably my ball skills and coaches want me to work on lowering my hips just a little bit more and work on my back pedal.
Another weakness they've seen is my top end speed. Some coaches, like the Rutgers coach, would like to see me put on a little weight but that's because he saw me as a
63 tackles, 13 pass deflections, two force fumbles and a recovery. Blocked two punts.
Maryland Super 22 award and second team all-east coast at defensive back. Top four defensive backs at the all-american combine.
"We should've been 7-4 but we lost a games at the one-yard line and ended up at 5-6. I think we've got seven returning starters on defense
and like four on offense. And I'll be playing both ways this year. We've been in our weight training program and we'll be in our pads next Monday. We start spring ball on the 20th that Tuesday.
Runs track, 100 me, 200m and long jump."
"I would like to get it over as quickly as possible but I definitely want to take my five official visits. I want to be smart and be faithful with God and my family and hopefully come out with the best possible decision for me."
