Kansas OL gets verbal from TCU
Hesston, Kansas offensive lineman Riley Spencer is regarded as one of the top players in the state. A three year letterman and all-conference performer , the 6-foot-6, 263-pounder is receiving interest from several schools from across the nation and currently holds three offers.
"I have three offers from Miami, TCU, and the University of South Dakota," he said. "Iowa and Illinois are both showing interest as well as Kansas and Kansas State."
So do any schools stick out above the others at this point?
"No, I don't have any favorites right now," he said.
Spencer, who had a good showing at the Ft. Worth Nike Camp says his biggest strengths on the field are his speed and quickness.
After the Nike camp was complete Spencer got to see a little more of what the Frogs have to offer.
"They offered me about two weeks ago," he said. "It's a verbal offer. I was able to go after the Nike camp and talk to their coaches and I'm also working out with Blaize Foltz ('08 signee). Coach Sharp is recruiting me, I've actually talked to him a couple of times, I've called him a couple of times."
"It's definitely a great campus, a great environment, and great coaching staff and they have a lot of improvements going in. It would be a good place to go into."
Although he hasn't set a time line on his decision, one thing for certain is that Spencer is looking first and foremost at academics.
"I haven't really decided at this point," Spencer said on when he'll make a decision. "Definitely academics is the main factor, I'm trying to get into pre-med, pre-chiropractic."
